Digital delivery for Shopify, on your own domain.
Keep selling through your Shopify checkout. FetchApp emails download links and any license keys, adds links to the order-status page, and can mark your digital items fulfilled.

Two things to get right when you set up
- Match each product code exactly. Shopify calls this code a SKU. Each variant’s SKU must match its FetchApp product SKU, including capital letters and spacing.
- Attach at least one file to every digital product in FetchApp. A product sold for its license key still needs a file; a short text file can serve as a placeholder.
An unmatched product or a product with no attached file will not deliver, even if the Shopify order looks complete. Check both before your first test order. Setting up SKUs and files →
Install, match, test
Install the app or connect your existing FetchApp account, then check your products and try a delivery.
Install from the App Store
Approve the permissions shown during installation. These let FetchApp read your products and orders and mark digital items fulfilled. Order notifications are set up for you. Permissions explained →

Match your SKUs, attach your files
Import your products or create them by hand, then make each FetchApp SKU match the Shopify variant SKU exactly and attach at least one file to every product.

Use a 100%-off discount code to test your Shopify checkout and delivery. You can also create an order in FetchApp to test delivery on its own, without paying processing fees.
What FetchApp adds to your Shopify store
Give buyers their downloads after checkout and keep digital deliveries organised in your order list.
Order notifications set up for you
The app sets up notifications during installation. If you need to reconnect them, use Refresh webhooks in Integrations. The setup guide explains the steps.

Customers can find their downloads after checkout, in their inbox and on a download page using your domain.
Download links appear on the Shopify order-status page after checkout. The delivery email includes links and any assigned license keys, and the download page uses your storefront domain.

Choose your delivery settings
Use these settings to choose when orders deliver and how long their links stay available.
| Setting | What it changes | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Order authorization | Deliver only paid orders, or deliver regardless of payment status. The second option can help with orders that do not send a paid notification, but also allows delivery before payment. | Integrations → Shopify |
| Automatic fulfillment | Whether FetchApp marks the digital line items fulfilled in Shopify as it delivers them. | Integrations → Shopify |
| Download limit | How many downloads each file allows. Set your usual limit, then adjust individual orders when needed. | Product, or the order |
| Link expiry | Choose a time limit and combine it with the download count. Links stop working when either limit is reached. | Product, or the order |
Send yourself a free test order
Test with your own email address so you can check the experience from checkout to download.
- Make it free Create a 100%-off discount code in Shopify and buy your own product with it, or create an order by hand in the FetchApp admin, which skips Shopify entirely and tests the delivery half on its own.
- Watch the order arrive Look for the order in FetchApp. If it is missing, check your connection and the troubleshooting steps below.
- Check the buyer's view first For a Shopify test order, open the order-status page and check that the download links appear.
- Then check the email Open the download link and check any license key. If the download says Access Denied, review your storage access settings.
- Then check Shopify If automatic fulfilment is enabled, the digital items should be marked fulfilled. If not, check the setting and app permissions.
- Do it again with a bundle If you sell bundles or several licenses in one purchase, test those too. Check that the expected files and keys arrive.

Nothing delivered, and the order looks fine in Shopify
Check that each digital product has the same SKU in Shopify and FetchApp. Correct any mismatch, then follow the setup guide to process the order again.
How SKU matching worksOne product delivers, another doesn't
Check the product that did not deliver. It needs at least one attached file, including when you sell a license key. Attach the file, then try the delivery again.
Attaching files to productsSome orders never reach FetchApp at all
Some PayPal Express flows and order-creation or bundling apps do not send a paid notification. Check order authorization and ask us if you are unsure: delivering regardless of payment status can include unpaid orders.
Chasing a missing deliveryDelivered, but Shopify still says unfulfilled
Automatic fulfillment is off, or the app is missing the fulfillment permission because it was installed before that scope existed. Check the setting first; if it is on, reinstall from the App Store to re-approve the permission, then re-run your free test order.
Fulfillment settingsSend a key with each unit sold.
Deliver keys for software and other digital products alongside their files, without sending them by hand.
Paste a list of keys into each product. Each unit sold receives an available key in the email and on the download page. Export the assignments to see who received which key. Your developer can also read them through the API.
Keep the unused keys topped up. If a product runs out, the file still delivers without a key and FetchApp does not alert you. For bulk sales, check the Shopify quantity limit before you start. Key and quantity limits →
- In the delivery email Beside the file it unlocks.
- On the download page Alongside the download links.
- Over the API Your developer can read keys and assignments.

Questions about selling downloads on Shopify
Will I be billed twice, once by Shopify and once by FetchApp?
An App Store subscription is billed through Shopify; a direct subscription is billed by FetchApp. Signing up both ways can leave you with two subscriptions. If you already have an account or are unsure which bills you, contact us before starting another. How billing works →
Can I sell physical and digital products in the same order?
Yes. FetchApp delivers the matching digital products and can mark them fulfilled. Your physical products stay in your usual picking, packing and shipping process. Mixed catalogues →
Does it work with Shopify POS?
Shopify POS can send paid orders to FetchApp, but compatibility with every POS setup has not been established. Run a free test order through your POS before relying on it, and contact us if you need help checking the result.
Do I still need Shopify's native digital downloads app?
You can use FetchApp for your digital deliveries instead. If both apps send delivery emails, buyers may receive two emails for the same order, so check which app handles each product. Explore FetchApp features →
Can my buyer get their file again without emailing me?
Yes. Customers can look up their order to find the links again using their email address and order number. Help a buyer find their download →
