Quickstart

Connect your store, upload and attach a file, then send yourself a test order. A step-by-step guide to your first FetchApp delivery.

Set aside about fifteen minutes to connect your store and send yourself a test order. By the end, you will have followed the same download steps your customers will use.

Step 1 · Choose how to sign up

Selling on Shopify? Install FetchApp from the Shopify App Store. This creates your account, connects your store and sets up billing through your Shopify invoice.

Selling somewhere else? Sign up directly, then choose a connection for your store in step 3.

Already have a FetchApp account? Add Shopify from Settings → Integrations in that account. Using your existing account keeps your products and billing together and avoids a second subscription. If you need help finding it, see sign in.

Step 2 · Create the account and confirm your email

You will choose a handle, the name at the start of your account address: https://<handle>.fetchapp.com. Choose a name you are happy for customers to see in download links. This address stays with your account.

Look for a confirmation email from [email protected]. If it does not arrive, check your spam folder. The sign-in guide can help if you cannot find your account or the name you chose is already taken.

Step 3 · Connect your store

In FetchApp, open Settings → Integrations.

  • Shopify: Follow the steps to authorise the connection. FetchApp sets up the order notifications for you. See the Shopify guide for details.
  • PayPal: Enter the PayPal business email address for the account that receives payments. See the PayPal integration.
  • WooCommerce: Review the plugin and API options and test the connection with your store.
  • Another store: A developer can connect it through the API. See pricing for plans that include API access.

Your store takes the payment, then FetchApp sends the files.

Step 4 · Upload a file

Open Files → Add File and choose the file you want to sell. Upload time depends on the file size and your internet connection, so leave time for larger files to finish.

If the file shows Not yet completed, the upload has not finished. Delete that entry and upload the file again. If this keeps happening, contact support.

Step 5 · Attach the file and match the product code

5a · Attach a file to the product

Open the product in FetchApp and attach at least one file. Uploading a file and creating a product are separate steps; attaching the file connects them.

Every product you want to deliver needs an attached file. This includes products that sell only a license key. For those, a short text file with activation instructions works well. Products without files will not be delivered.

5b · Match the SKU in both places

A SKU is the product code used to match an item in your store with its FetchApp product. Copy it exactly, including capitals and spaces. For example:

Your store's product code FetchApp product code Match?
EBOOK-01 EBOOK-01 Yes
EBOOK-01 ebook-01 No
EBOOK-01 EBOOK 01 No

On Shopify, each digital product variant needs its own SKU and a matching FetchApp product. If you import your catalogue, physical products come across too. Leave those without files so FetchApp delivers only the digital products.

Step 6 · Add license keys, if you sell them

Open Edit License Keys → Add License Keys on the product and paste your keys, one per line or separated by commas. FetchApp assigns one available key per unit sold. The license-key guide explains how to check your remaining keys and the limit of 100 keys per Shopify line item.

Step 7 · Place a free test order

Start with a manual order, then test the store connection.

A · Create an order in FetchApp. Use your own email address and the product you just set up. No payment is needed. Check that the delivery email arrives and its link downloads the right file.

B · Place an order through your store. On Shopify, create a 100%-off discount code and buy your product with it. This checks the store connection and product-code match as well as the delivery. If the order does not appear in FetchApp, follow the checks in the Shopify guide.

Step 8 · Confirm the delivery

Check each part of the order:

  1. The order appears in FetchApp after checkout, usually within a few seconds.
  2. The delivery email arrives from [email protected].
  3. The email link opens the download page and you can download the file.
  4. On Shopify, download links appear on the order-status page if you enabled the FetchApp app block. Digital items show as fulfilled if automatic fulfillment is turned on.

If the order is there but the email is missing, follow the download email didn’t arrive.

Before you go live

Choose how long download links should stay active and how many downloads to allow. Download counts apply to each file separately. Review limits, including the daily email allowance, before a launch or a large batch of test orders.

Moving from another provider? You can import past orders to give existing customers access to their files through FetchApp.

Next: complete your store test order, then you are ready to set up the rest of your products.
