What FetchApp is
FetchApp sends digital files and license keys after a sale. Learn how it works with your existing store, payments and customer downloads.
FetchApp sends digital files and license keys to your customers after a sale. You keep your store and checkout; FetchApp handles the delivery. You can sell e-books, patterns, music, software, or any other files your customers download. FetchApp has been delivering digital products since 2007.
What happens on a paid order
- Your store tells FetchApp that an order has been paid.
- FetchApp finds the matching products using their SKUs, the product codes you set in your store. Each code needs to match exactly in both places.
- If you sell license keys, FetchApp assigns one available key for each unit sold.
- FetchApp emails the customer a link to their download page. On Shopify, you can also add the links to the order-status page.
- Customers can look up their order later using their email address and order number.
For Shopify orders, FetchApp also re-checks recent order notifications and creates orders that were received but not processed. If an order is still missing, the Shopify guide walks you through the checks to make.
Your store, payments and customers
Your store is where customers browse and buy. FetchApp works behind it, so you can keep your existing theme and checkout. On Shopify, you can serve downloads from your own store domain.
Your store and payment provider handle payments, refunds and taxes. FetchApp does not collect money from your buyers or file VAT for you. If you need a service to collect and pay sales taxes on your behalf, you will need to arrange that separately.
You also bring your own customers. FetchApp is a delivery service rather than a marketplace where shoppers discover products.
Choosing a connection
Shopify: Install the app, import your products and attach their files. FetchApp can add download links to your order-status page and mark digital items as fulfilled.
PayPal: Use FetchApp’s button builder and connect the PayPal account that receives your payments.
WooCommerce: A community-maintained WordPress plugin is available. Its latest release was in February 2023, so test it with your current store before launching. A developer can also connect your store through the API.
Other stores: A developer can use the API to send paid orders to FetchApp. BigCommerce connections remain available to existing connected accounts only.
See integrations for setup options and help choosing a connection.
Plans and license keys
Your plan has a flat monthly fee based on the storage allowance you choose, with no per-order charge or revenue share. See pricing for the available plans.
FetchApp stores and delivers license keys you provide. Your software handles activation and checking whether a key is valid. Each buyer receives the same product file. Before selling keys, read the license-key guide, including how to check your remaining keys and prepare for larger orders.
Getting help
Support is available by email, Monday to Friday. Standard plans do not include a service-level agreement or a guaranteed response time. You can find availability information on reliability. If you would like delivery emails to come from your own domain, contact support for help setting that up.
